Design Statement
The master plan conceptual aim is to create new public spaces and built forms which:- recognize and reflect the existing Mansion District area character
- retain elements of the site’s existing architecture
- knit into the existing fabric at a new larger scale, the methodology of which could become the basis of a new Urbanist approach for the developing area; - a new Mansion Style- reflect the upward mobility of the city and the project occupiers in terms of both culture and economics-takes on the culturally relevant philosophy of Deconstructivism: ideas of fragmentation, an interest in manipulating ideas of a structure's surface or skin, to distort and dislocate some of the elements of architecture, such as structure and envelope, stimulating unpredictability, beautiful interplay and juxtapositions. Our design approach is to create new Bucuresti architecture that culturally reflects the contemporary Bucuresti situation post USSR and Ceauşescu. It embodies joy in freedom, the freedom to explore and express ourselves in new manners, to create a built form that has a newly discovered order and a truly unique beauty.
